About Me
About Me
Welcome!
My name is Dulce Tapp and I am from Mexico City. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. After graduating I worked for several years mainly in construction sites.
I immigrated to Canada in 1991 where I took some private art courses in Ottawa.
Creativity, composition and bright colours with a story behind every piece has always characterized the creation of my collage work.
I work out of my home studio in Ottawa and most of my inspiration comes from Mexican roots and strong Mexican elements that are always present when transforming and re-appropriating previously made images and found materials into new compositions.
Always combining different techniques lead me to the final product that always has a strong visual impact for spectators.
I have exhibited my art in different galleries which include:
St Elmo’s Fire, St. Brigid’s, Orange Gallery, Towne Square Gallery, Apple Crate Gallery, Shenkman Art Centre. Coffee shops and venues such as Catrina Churros Cafe, Alice Village Cafe, Experience Mexico-Horticulture Building-Landsdowne Urban Park, Ottawa City Hall (Latin-American Heritage celebration), and Hello Studios, among others.
